Our Specialty Services TELEMEDICINE Telemedicine is technology utilized in the best sense -- to help “watch over you”. Daily, vital signs are monitored in your home, and transmitted to the VNS office where a registered nurse reviews them. VNS, the first in the state to offer telemedicine to our patients, has made it even better by coordinating the program with a dedicated nurse for telemedicine oversight. VNS partners with HomMed to provide this service. ![]() VITAL STIM VNS Home Health Services is a provider of Vital Stim - a tool to assist the rehabilitation of swallowing dysfunction. Vital Stim refers to a specially designed electrical stimulation device that facilitates muscle reeducation of the throat muscles. This stimulation, provided by specially trained speech language pathologists in conjunction with traditional swallowing treatment and education, has demonstrated positive outcomes for appropriate patients. For more information about Vital Stim visit www.vitalstim.com PRESURGICAL IN-HOME TOTAL JOINT ASSESSMENT When you are planning a total joint replacement, this in-home assessment offers valuable teaching for exercises, mobility, home and equipment needs and ideas for in-home management after your surgery. FALL ASSESSMENT VNS can help you determine your fall risk factors and help with a plan to improve your balance and decrease your risk of falling. LIFELINE Lifeline is a medical alert monitoring service that insures that elder adults and others living at home receive immediate assistance whenever it is needed, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. DRIVING EVALUATIONS We provide complete assessment of motor, cognitive, and on the road driving ability by an Occupational Therapist and a Certified Driving Instructor. Recommendations are made regarding adaptations and safety needs. COMMUNITY WELLNESS The VNS Community Health Nurse can be visited at over 25 locations within the community for free vital sign monitoring and to answer your health questions. PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY REHABILITATION PROGRAM Physical and/or occupational therapy combined with Monochromatic Infrared – Phototherapy is a treatment tool for peripheral neuropathy. The combination of increasing flexibility, strength, and motor recruitment in conjunction with stimulating the circulation in the affected area has been shown to have positive outcomes in combating certain types of peripheral neuropathy. |
