Ways to Give

VNS Home Health Services is a non-profit organization focused on the health of our communities. The VNS Mission statement clearly reflects our activities:

VNS Home Health Services, a non-profit community based organization is dedicated to assisting individuals, families and communities to manage illness and to reach an optimal level of health through the provision of quality home health services, education and community programs.

There are many ways that you can help VNS Home Health Services to continue with their Mission and, because VNS is non profit, your donation is tax deductible.

The Rose Nulman Memorial Park
Scenic Point Judith, RI is the home for this Memorial Park, established by Saul Nulman, in memory of his wife, Rose, in 1991. Bordered by the Point Judith Lighthouse, Coast Guard Station and the Atlantic  Ocean, this spot is both tranquil and filled with energy. A 1-by-3 inch memorial plaque; with your loved one’s name; housed at the park is available for $150 with proceeds benefiting VNS Home Health Services. Please call Deb Olivier for information regarding Memorial Plaques at 788-2314.

The South County Hospital Golf Tournament
Proceeds from this annual summer event have been designated to benefit VNS Home Health Services. Various levels of sponsorship are available as well as the opportunity for Tee Signs or golfing as a foursome.

The 2010 tournament was held on Monday, July 12th at the exclusive Shelter Harbor Golf Club.

Grand Sponsor: Alert Ambulance - a division of Paramedic Systems, Inc.

Annual Appeal
In December of each year, VNS reaches out to the community with an annual appeal. A letter may be sent to your home asking you to consider a donation to VNS.

Home Health Equipment
Sometimes, when we or our family members have an experience with home health, there is a piece of medical equipment that has been an instrumental part of the health care plan. After experiencing the effectiveness of some of the state of the art tools utilized by our clinicians in your home, you may wish to help others receive the same equipment and care. Feel free to designate that your donation is made for the following purchases.

Telemedicine - one telemedicine unit can help 12 patients yearly as they recover from a cardiac, pulmonary or establishing control of diabetes . The cost for VNS to lease a telemedicine unit yearly is $960 or $80 monthly.

Lifeline Personal Emergency Response Unit - this device can indeed be a life saver. VNS provides these devices free of charge for residents in our community 100 years old and up. $456 will provide a Lifeline unit yearly or $38 for a month.

Vital Stim – an electrical modality, designed to improve swallowing when throat muscles are implicated as problematic. This treatment, when utilized by a Speech Language Pathologist certified in its use, can be effective in improving safe swallowing. A Vital Stim unit can be purchased for $1800 dollars, a set of 12 electrodes for $200.

Clinician Bags - Each time a clinician makes a home visit, they bring their daily equipment with them, including blood pressure cuffs, measuring tapes, dressing supplies, stethoscopes and personal protective equipment. All of this is carried in a vinyl, cleanable bag costing $80 per clinician.

Please call 788-2314 with any questions.

Volunteers - perhaps the most personal way to assist VNS is to volunteer. There are a number of volunteer opportunities ranging from helping with one-time events to weekly assignments.

Please call the Volunteer Coordinator, South County Hospital at 788-1982 to hear about opportunities.

VNS Home Health Services is appreciative for any size donation or Volunteer service.
